Extron Introduces New 100 Volt ENERGY STAR® Qualified Power Amplifiers

Anaheim, California (February 2, 2011) - Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the introduction of the XTRA™ Series XPA 2002-100V and XPA 2003C-100V power amplifiers. These compact 1U, convection cooled amplifiers are designed for 100 volt speaker systems and offer 200 watts rms output per channel. The XPA 2002-100V is a two-channel model, while the XPA 2003C is a unique three-channel amplifier that offers 100 volt amplification plus stereo 4 or 8 ohm amplification. Both models are ENERGY STAR® qualified and UL verified amplifiers with an Extron exclusive, highly efficient, advanced Class D design. They also feature patented CDRS™ - Class D Ripple Suppression technology that provides a smooth, clean audio waveform and an improvement in signal fidelity over conventional Class D amplifier designs. XTRA Series power amplifiers are housed in a compact 1U, convection cooled, rack-mountable enclosure and do not require fans for cooling, making them ideal for installation in racks, lecterns, credenzas, and other applications with limited space and ventilation.

"We are pleased to offer 100 volt versions of the XTRA Series amplifiers that deliver high power audio amplification, yet are energy efficient products for conserving energy and reducing costs in A/V systems," says Jeff Gibson, Extron Vice President of International Sales and Marketing. "The XTRA Series are the first commercial amplifiers with ENERGY STAR 2.0 qualification and UL verification, consuming less energy, running cooler, and taking up less space than competitive models."

XTRA Series amplifiers feature an auto power-down feature that automatically places each amplifier into standby after a period of inactivity, and consume 28 watts or less when idle and less than 1 watt in standby mode. They also have an ultra low inrush current draw to prevent power circuit overload that occurs when multiple amplifiers are switched on simultaneously. This feature eliminates the need for power sequencing in systems with multiple amplifiers in large centralized equipment racks, and prevents other equipment from experiencing power interruption from associated power surges. Additionally, XTRA Series amplifiers feature very low thermal dissipation under full load, which keeps racks and equipment cabinets cool.
