Extron FF 220T Flat Field Speakers Now Compatible with Metric Suspended Ceilings

Anaheim, California (July 4, 2013) - Extron Electronics is pleased to announce a new version of the FF 220T Flat Field speaker designed for metric 600 mm x 600 mm suspended ceilings. The FF 220T is a full-range ceiling tile speaker for 70/100 volt systems. It features Extron patented Flat Field Technology that reduces beaming of mid and high frequencies directly under the speaker, delivering consistent sound levels across the listening area. In addition, the FF 220T offers an extraordinarily wide dispersion of 170 degrees, providing a very wide coverage pattern for rooms with low ceilings. An Extron exclusive, 600 mm x 600 mm by 83 mm deep enclosure drops into suspended ceilings, providing quicker installations. With a low profile enclosure, the FF 220T is ideal for ceiling installations with tight above-the-ceiling space issues.

Extron's patented Flat Field Technology makes this speaker truly unique. Flat Field Technology redirects radiated sound waves from the full-range driver to better equalize sound pressure levels across the listening area. As a result of this wide dispersion area, fewer FF 220T speakers are required for a given room, as compared to traditional ceiling speakers. This translates to simpler installation and lower cost, both in speaker components and installation labor. The 3" (7.6 cm) horn-loaded, full-range driver provides wide frequency response, including bass extension down to 68 Hz. Another unique aspect of the FF 220T design is that it features a neutral white, perforated steel grille that matches the appearance of standard air conditioning vents and grid ceilings. This makes it less prone to theft or tampering.

The FF 220T offers 70/100 volt or 8 ohm operation, and provides power taps for 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 watt. For easy installation, the FF 220T drops into the same space as a standard 600 mm square ceiling tile, and includes a T-bar for 600 mm x 1200 mm ceilings.
